Danny and Derek welcome Lamin Keita, PhD candidate in political science at Northwestern University, and Alex Thurston, assistant professor of political science at the University of Cincinnati, for a discussion on the situation in the Sahel, namely Mali and Burkina Faso.
Thurston and Keita saying US military isn't involved in coups in Africa is a surprising statement. Even more surprising from anyone who has studied US foreign policy in Africa.
One could even call it an outrageous statement?
Guess nobody going to give funding to a historian that would say publicly there's still outright US complicity in foreign coups d'états....
They didn’t say the US has never been complicit in any coups, they said there’s no indication the US was complicit in the last two coups in Mali or Burkina Faso. If you’re listening for things to be mad about at least try to stick to what the guests actually say.
Truly have no idea how Derek’s brain can hold so much information
I really tried but couldn't get into this one. Your effort is always appreciated.

Fair enough.
